It’s no secret that the Royal Family have some serious heirlooms in their collection when it comes to jewellery, but which are the most expensive? And which member of the Royal Family loves their bling the most?

With the upcoming Coronation of His Majesty The King - featuring an officially priceless crown that’s estimated to be worth anywhere between £3 billion to £5 billion - jewellery design experts Abbott Lyon have revealed the most expensive pieces worn by the Royals.

The ‘Blingiest’ Royals (According to social media)

When it comes to the Royals who’ve worn the most bling during their time in the public eye there’s one member of the family who stands way above the rest.

Kate Middleton is the blingiest member of the Royal family, according to her collection and social media. Wearing pieces such as the Nizam of Hyderabad necklace, estimated to be worth over £66 million, Queen Alexandra's £300k wedding necklace and, of course, Princess Diana’s iconic sapphire and diamond engagement ring - which is now also Kate’s engagement ring. Estimated to be worth over £675,000, this piece has been copied by couples all over the world.

Princess Kate is said to prefer diamonds, making the Nizam of Hyderabad piece, with over 50 diamonds in it, right up her street.

Next on the bling list is the late Princess Diana. Known for spectacular pieces like the Spencer Tiara, which she wore on her wedding day and the Queen Mother's Sapphire Brooch, which she converted into a seven strand pearl necklace. She famously paired the necklace with her absolutely iconic "revenge dress" that she wore on the night Charles announced his affair.

Another beautiful post-divorce piece that Diana is known for was a beautiful 30 carat aquamarine ring crafted by Asprey so that she would have something to wear on her ring finger. It was passed on to Harry after her death and was spotted on Meghan Markle on her wedding day. Like Diana’s other jewellery, it’s been an inspiration across the world.

Camilla, Queen Consort, is third on the list of the Royal family members who wear the most expensive jewellery. She has a serious collection of tiaras, necklaces, brooches, earrings and rings, including her own family pieces and gifts from the King. One of her best known pieces is a five strand Greville Festoon necklace (with matching tiara) that Camilla has literally had dresses designed around to show off the beauty of the piece.

The Most Iconic Royal Pieces

The Royal Crown is probably the most well-known bejewelled piece in the royal collection. Made from gold and set with 2,868 diamonds, 17 sapphires, 11 emeralds, 269 pearls, and 4 rubies! The crown contains some of the most famous jewels in the collection. These include the Black Prince's Ruby, the Stuart Sapphire and the Cullinan II diamond - the centrepiece of the crown, estimated to be worth around £400 million.

As well as the super-pricey Nizam of Hyderabad, Kate Middleton has also been spotted in a £500,000 Lotus Flower Tiara for a Diplomatic Corps reception at Buckingham Palace and during a separate state banquet. It’s also been worn by Princess Margaret, and was a wedding day gift to her. Kate’s own wedding tiara was the Cartier Halo Tiara, loaned from the Queen.

Another iconic piece is the £15 million emerald and diamond Delhi Durbar necklace. The Art Deco choker was a wedding gift from Queen Elizabeth II, but Princess Diana instead wore it on her head, believed to be the result of a chance accident whilst putting the choker on.
